About the Exhibit

Willi Smith, the designer behind the wildly successful brand WilliWear, is considered one of the most influential and successful African-American fashion designers of the last century. The Cooper-Hewitt offers a thorough retrospective of Smith’s career and ongoing impact, particularly in the fields of streetwear. The first museum exhibition focused on Willi Smith is unlikely to be the last.
